Recently, the USAF unveiled a project under which a contractor will
create replicas of 3 former Soviet-era mobile air defense systems:
the Kub (SA-6) and Tunguska (SA-19) missiles; and the Shilka SP-AAG.
All of the targets are to be radar-reflective, have a suitable
thermal signature and be built using a framework of welded tubular
galvanized steel with a galvanized sheet-metal exterior. The
multispectral replicas are all to have unique shades: the Kub target
will be a solid olive drab green; the Tunguska vehicle will be a
light desert tone brown; and the Shilka will be a solid desert tone
brown. The selected contractor will provide tie-down straps and
ground anchors, allowing the targets to cope with winds of up to 60
mph and snow loads of up to 18 inches.
