Under an extant contract, the US Marine Corps has awarded two
delivery orders, at a combined value of more than $76 mil, to
Oshkosh Defense covering almost 200 Logistics Vehicle System
Replacement (LVSR), boosting the total quantity of such platforms
under contract to 854. Deployment of the LVSRs in Afghanistan
commenced in 9/2009. Manufacture of the LVSRs is taking place in the
company's Wisconsin facilities, with handovers scheduled to run
through 9/2010. The service deploys the 10-wheel LVSR for on- and
off-road transportation of heavy payloads, including munitions, fuel
and water. The on-road payload capability of the vehicle is 22.5
tons, while the off-road capability is 16.5 tons.
