The Indian Navy (IN) is striving to expand its fleet to 165 warships and submarines and 300 aircraft by 2017-20. Forty ships are currently under construction, including two SSNs and two carriers; the latter will embark the MiG-29K fighter. Mazagon Docks is assembling six Type 17 class guided missile frigates, to be armed with the Klub missile, and Type 15A class destroyers to be fitted with the BrahMos cruise missile and Israeli-built M/Star weapons control system. Goa Shipyard is building five 3,000-ton armed OPVs and six Scorpene SSKs, with technical assistance from DCNS and Navantia. The IN is also procuring three Krivak class frigates from Russia's Yantar Shipyard and four Type 28 class ASW corvettes from DCNS, which is collaborating with Walchandnagar Industries.
