Rafael is poised to launch full-rate production of the Spike NLOS,
the latest in the family of Spike electro-optically guided precision
strike missiles. The new version is equipped with an embedded C2
system and midcourse navigation that enable gunners to attain the
same in-through-the-window precision as they could using earlier
variants, at beyond LoS ranges of up to 25 km. Almost twice as large
as the Spike ER (Extended Range), the new missile can carry a
variety of warheads. In contrast to the Spike ER which keeps in
contact with its target for up to eight km via fiber-optic cables,
the Spike NLOS utilizes radio communication links to transmit target
and command data. Spike missile versions are deployed by the Israel
Defense Forces (IDF) and more than 16 export customers, including
Italy, Finland, the Netherlands, Poland, Singapore, Spain and
Romania,
