The Non-LoS Launch System (NLoS-LS) missile, being developed by the
NetFires joint venture between Raytheon and Lockheed Martin, was
flight-tested in 11/2009 at the White Sands Missile Range, New
Mexico. Launched from a NLOS-LS container launch unit, the weapon
utilized its on-board, semi-active laser seeker to detect, lock onto
and destroy over a 23.5-mi range over a stationary BM-21 rocker
launcher. Developed to work in a network as part of the recently
cancelled Future Combat Systems (FCS) program, the NLOS-LS now forms
part of the FCS follow-on program called Early Infantry Brigade
Combat Team (BCT) Modernization.
