The Royal Australian Navy (RAN) has upgraded its four FFG 7 (Adelaide Class) guided missile frigates with the capability to fire the Evolved Sea Sparrow Missile (ESSM) in quad-pack configuration from an Mk 41 VLS, additional high bandwidth SHF SATCOM systems, a water jet-driven rigid hull inflatable boat and the Rafael Mini-Typhoon remote-controlled, stabilized naval gun. Under the Anti-Ship Missile Defence Upgrade, the frigates will be equipped with the CEA Technologies CEAPAR/CEAFAR radar system as well as an improved navigation suite and IR search and track system.
