In 8/2009, the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) received the third
and final batch of six Su-30MKM fighters from Russian-based Irkutsk;
the company's contract covered ground support equipment in addition
to the 18 aircraft. In the same month, Irkutsk landed a $2.5 bil
contract from the Russian MoD to supply the Russian Air Force with
48 Su-35S, 23 Su-27SM and four Su-30M2 fighters, with deliveries to
be completed by 2015. Rosoboronexport has announced that the company
will hand over eight Su-30MK2s, procured by Vietnam under a $500 mil
award, starting in 1/2010. The Su-30MK2, a dual-seat variant of the
Su-27, features upgraded electronics and the capability to fire
antiship missiles.
