The long-term Capability Development Plan formulated by the Royal
Malaysian Navy states a requirement for frigate-type vessels,
although how many will be procured depends on budgetary constraints.
There is also a requirement for a landing platform dock (LPD), to be
acquired jointly with the Armed Forces. The service expects to
receive delivery of the last 3 New-Generation Patrol Vessels (NGPV)
by mid-2010; should a second batch be ordered, some design
modifications will be made. The MoD is considering an offer from
Brunei Darussalam for a purchase of three secondhand FS2000 Nahkoda
Ragam class OPVs.
