The Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) operates several
types of patrol ship including 15 Gagah class and two Langkawi class
boats. The Marlin class training ship, bought through a grant from
Japan's Nippon Foundation, was launched in 1/2008. The MMEA fleet
also includes the Rhu class vessel, which accommodates 15
crewmembers and three officers. All MMEA personnel undergo training
seminars, courses and workshops, including some programs abroad.
Aircrews are given special training aboard fixed- and rotary-wing
aircraft. Rescue swimming is part of the SAR training curriculum.
